Recently, after taking a long hiatus from blogging and making videos to finish a side project on teaching doctors how to properly read blood tests, I realized I wanted to start blogging and making videos again. However, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to talk about. Do I talk about what people are most looking for on the web? Do I talk about something that I’m passionate about? I just couldn’t make up my mind. Then it dawned on me, about 1 million times a day, (all right, I might be exaggerating a tiny bit, but not much) I say “I wish more doctors ran these blood tests, and I wish patients knew more about reading their own blood tests”. So that’s why I am putting together this blog series on just that.

Purpose Of This Blog Series

So, what is the purpose of this blog/playlist? Is it so that you can diagnose and treat yourself and never see your doctor? Absolutely not! The purpose is to be a more informed patient when you go to your doctor. One way to do this is by being able to read your own blood tests.

One of the most common comments I get from patients who are not in the know is, “my doctor said that my blood tests don’t show anything and that everything is fine”. And I’ll say, “did he run XY and Z blood tests?” Almost invariably, the patient will say “I don’t know, did they?“ My purpose for this blog/playlist is for you to answer this question: ”No they didn’t, why not?“ Or; “Yes they did, and it was normal/abnormal”. My purpose for this blog/playlist is for you to become a more informed patient so that you can not only help yourself but others, better. Way too many people do not have a Dr. Sheehan or Master Laura in their life that they can bring their blood test to and ask what it means, and what to do about it. They rely on their doctors who almost always say “everything is normal, we don’t know what is wrong, here’s an antidepressant.“

When We’ll Be Releasing The Series

For the next 4 to 6 months, roughly every 1 to 2 weeks, I’ll be releasing a new blog going over our basic lab test panel, and how to utilize that information for your and your family’s greatest health benefit. This information will be easy to use, scientifically documented, and extremely effective. Please feel free to share this with your family and friends, in fact, I encourage it. By the way, if you have any questions or comments, please let me know! I want to know what you’re concerned about and what’s important to you, so I can help you more. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!

Common Questions About This Blog Series

Will this be a way to diagnose myself?

No, this is not a “diagnose yourself” course! This information is intended to give you a view into how to properly use blood tests so that you know what you need, and what to order if your doctor does not or will not do so. It’s basically something to help you become very familiar with one of the cornerstones of healthcare, blood testing.

Is there a specific order to read these blogs?

Yes, these blogs are in a specific sequence to maximize effectiveness. That being said, if you choice to read one or two, start with the ones on blood sugar and diet. Without balanced blood sugar and the right diet, nothing works!

Can I share these blogs with my medical doctor? How about my family and friends?

Yes, absolutely! Everyone can benefit from this information, and even though I put this information together, I continually review it! You can’t be too good with the basics! This information can help everyone!

How can I get the blood tests talked about in this series?

  • Through your PCP if he/she is willing to order the tests outlined in this blog series.
  • You can order the labs yourself through Any Lab Test Now or Quest Diagnostics. However, keep in mind that these labs in particular do not accept insurance.
  • In our office, we use a co-op for healthcare professionals which allows us to provide lab testing services at a fraction of the typical costs.
