Don’t Accept Them; Treat Them with a Holistic Health Approach

Headaches and their more severe counterpart, migraines, can be disruptive to living a productive, active lifestyle. Whether you encounter frequent tension headaches or suffer from recurring debilitating migraines, it’s important to know that there are natural approaches that are powerful and effective in providing relief to headache sufferers.

Tension Headaches

The most common of headaches, tension headaches can be caused by stress, depression, eye strain or lack of sleep. Patients usually report a mild to moderate pain that feels as if there’s a tight band around their head. Tension headaches can last from 30 minutes to an entire week, with some sufferers experiencing chronic pain that affects them nearly all the time. Unlike migraines, tension headaches typically do not cause visual disturbances, weakness or abdominal pain.

Because they’re not as severe as migraines, tension headaches can easily be dismissed as “part of life.” But with so many advancements in treating these conditions from experienced natural health practitioners, a tension headache doesn’t need to be part of your health repertoire.

Migraines

If you’ve experienced the excruciating throb of a migraine, you understand how troublesome these episodes can be to your daily life and relationships. Before the headache even starts, you can experience dizziness, spots before the eyes, nausea and a host of other symptoms that render normal activities nearly impossible. Episodes can last for hours or several days.

In the U.S. alone, an estimated 28 to 32 million people – about 12 percent of the population – suffer from migraines, according to the National Headache Foundation. The condition is more common in women than men. A recent study found that 40 percent of migraine sufferers would benefit from preventative therapies.

Proven Natural Prevention for Headaches and Migraines

For regular headache and migraine sufferers, prevention should be the top priority in seeking treatment. Too often we turn to over-the-counter pain medications that provide little relief and absolutely no promise of preventing future episodes. With increasing evidence supporting the success of nutritional and chiropractic care in treating and preventing headaches and migraines, it’s time to look at this health condition holistically.
