Functional Medicine Triumphs and Chia-Collagen-Banana-Strawberry Pudding

Today, I have a guest post from Dr. Keith Sheehan about Functional Medicine Triumphs:
Functional Medicine triumphs over conventional because it seeks to address the cause of a person’s symptoms.
For example, we use laboratory testing to identify organ imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, and toxicities. Then we use natural whole food and botanical approaches alongside dietary and lifestyle changes to support the individual’s own innate healing process.

The Triumphs of Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine triumphs because it:
1) Shows the patient in black-and-white where the nutritional deficiencies and organ imbalances are.
2) Demonstrates progress in black-and-white with respect to these nutritional deficiencies and organ imbalances.
3) Helps keep patients off dangerous drugs and out of life-altering surgeries. Instead, we can detect and address trouble far ahead of time to prevent drastic and unnecessary interventions.
4) Allows for early intervention in patient healthcare. When you know what to look for, you can relieve a person’s suffering even in the absence of a diagnosed disease.
5) Promotes optimum wellness–often talked about but not easily executed in today’s healthcare environment.
This doctor also explains the Functional Medicine Difference really well, check it out!

Now, for the fun part.

Chia-Collagen-Banana-Strawberry Pudding

I just whipped this up this morning! I had some ripe bananas that needed to be used, so this was the perfect nutrient-dense snack.
Ingredients:
3 ripe bananas
2 cups water
1 ripe avocado
4 Tablespoons chia seeds
1 heaping teaspoon powdered stevia leaf
1 cup frozen strawberries
2 scoops Systemic Formulas Bio Basic Collagen Powder
Blend all ingredients in a Vitamix or large blender. Allow to firm up in the refrigerator for a couple of hours if desired.
Nutritiously yours,
Laura Sheehan
