Blood Sugar & Insulin Resistance

Getting to the root of energy crashes, sugar cravings, metabolic dysfunction, and pre-diabetes

Insulin resistance is one of the most widespread and most underdiagnosed metabolic conditions we see, and one of the most consequential. It sits at the root of a long list of other health problems: stubborn weight gain, hormone imbalances, chronic fatigue, digestive dysfunction, kidney stress, brain fog, cardiovascular risk, and more. The challenge is that it often develops silently for years before showing up on a conventional lab panel.

By the time someone is told they are pre-diabetic – or worse, diabetic – the underlying dysfunction has typically been present for a decade or more. And even patients who are still within conventional ‘normal’ ranges can have significant insulin resistance that is quietly driving their symptoms. This is where functional blood chemistry analysis makes a critical difference.

We are not in the business of managing blood sugar numbers. Our goal is to address the dietary patterns, nutritional deficiencies, and metabolic dysfunction that drive the problem, so the body can begin functioning the way it was designed to.

Common Symptoms

  • Energy crashes – especially 1 to 2 hours after eating
  • Intense sugar or carbohydrate cravings
  • Stubborn weight gain around the midsection that doesn’t respond to diet
  • Difficulty losing weight despite doing everything right
  • Fatigue after meals or a need to nap after eating
  • Brain fog, difficulty concentrating, or mood swings tied to eating
  • A pre-diabetes diagnosis or a blood sugar that is ‘borderline’
  • A family history of diabetes combined with metabolic symptoms

How we approach it

Our functional lab panel assesses blood sugar regulation, specifically insulin resistance in depth – looking at fasting glucose, fasting insulin, HbA1c, Triglyceride/HDL ratio, and related metabolic markers through a functional lens that identifies dysfunction long before conventional ranges flag a problem. Nutrition Response Testing helps identify the specific organs and systems under the most metabolic stress. The dietary component of the program is central to addressing blood sugar and insulin resistance. We work with patients on specific dietary changes tailored to their body, that support insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and rebuild metabolic health over time.

Is this program right for you?

This is a particularly good fit for people who have been told their blood sugar is fine but still feel the symptoms of blood sugar dysregulation, as well as for anyone who wants to address metabolic health naturally before it becomes a more serious problem.

Join the patients who look forward to Thursdays

Every week, our practitioners send out a short, practical email covering what we are seeing in the office, what is working for our patients, and straightforward information about how to maintain and improve your health. No fluff. No selling. Just the kind of useful, honest health information our patients tell us they look forward to every week.
